Waxing Sensitive Skin
When waxing sensitive or delicate skin there are a few tips you can follow to help ease discomfort and irritation and make waxing a more positive experience.
1. Choose your Wax Wisely – when you purchase a waxing kit look for one that is specially formulated
for sensitive or delicate skin types. An all natural wax is another great choice for sensitive skin as well.
2. Prepare the Skin – you can prepare your skin for waxing to help avoid discomfort and irritation by first exfoliating the day before you are to wax. Right before waxing any area of the skin, apply a light dusting of powder to the area you are waxing to avoid the wax from sticking to your skin.
3. Wax Correctly – always make sure to follow the instructions that come along with your waxing kit. Making sure you pull skin taught before removing the wax is extremely important. With sensitive skin, never go over the same area twice. If any hair is not removed the first time, wait a day or two before shaving or tweezing.
4. Soothe Skin – immediately after waxing remove any excess wax with a cotton ball and oil. Many kits come with oil for this purpose. If yours did not, you can use baby oil. Once any left over wax is removed use a post wax treatment as these are formulated to soothe and nourish freshly waxed skin.
