Hair Removal – Waxing vs Depilatory Cream Hair Removal

When it comes to removing unwanted hair we are faced with many choices such as shaving, waxing and depilatory creams. In this post we are going to compare waxing and depilatory cream hair removal methods.

Waxing -

waxing hair provides longer lasting results vs shaving or using creams. A thin layer of wax is spread onto the desired area and then a cloth strip is smoothed onto the wax (unless you are using stripless wax) and then pulled off quickly, removing the hair. Because the hair is removed from the roots, results last much longer, typically a couple of weeks to a month for some. Any irritation usually only last a few hours and this can be redness and a tingly feeling on the skin.

Hair wax is available in many different variety’s for different skin types, areas of the body as well as soft and hard waxes.

Depilatory Creams -

is a chemical cream substance designed to literally melt the hair thus, for some it can cause irritation to the skin. Depilatory creams are available in different strengths for different skin types and areas of the body where one may want to remove hair.

depilatory cream

Depilatory creams are simple to use as they are just applied to the desired area, left on for a set amount of time and then rinsed away. They are NOT to be rubbed into the skin and you must take caution to keep the cream away from lips/mouth, nipples, eyes, inner ear, nostrils, or genitals as depilatory creams contain chemicals.

For most, the results are smooth, hair free skin and the results last anywhere from typically 3-7 days.
