Winter Skin and Body Care

body lotionWinter weather can wreak major havoc on your skin with the cold winds, lack of moisture in the air and who can forget, the red, irritated nose from the constant blowing, ugh!

Save the skin on your nose by blowing gently, using a soft tissue and applying a small amount of polysporin ointment on your nose. Constant blowing can cause tiny cuts on your sensitive nose  and these let in bacteria causing the red, peeling skin. The polysporin will help heal and prevent.

Hot, red, itchy cheeks? Thanks to the chilly winds, the top layer of oil on your skin is removed and causes windburn. Help prevent this by using a face cream which works to help protect skin against environmental damage such as wind, sun and pollution.

Dry, itchy skin is almost a sure thing come winter months. Moisture is lot and skin can become dry, irritated and itchy. When skin becomes dehydrated,  the cells pull away from each other, moisture escapes and bacteria can enter. To prevent skin from drying out be sure to use  an  anti-inflammatory body lotion on a daily basis. If your skin is already red, irritated and itchy you can help heal your skin with an oatmeal bath. Soak for 10 minutes once per week until your skin is no longer red and itchy.

Dry, chapped lips are one of the most irritating winter side effects. Not only do dry lips feel uncomfortable but lips can become so dry that  the can crack and cause some major discomfort. Be sure to keep a moisturizing lip balm on hand and apply as needed. Vaseline also does a great job at adding moisture and soothing chapped lips.
