Maxwell’s Salon Goes All Out For Breast Cancer Awareness
Chapin, South Carolina, October 7th 2009 – During Breast Cancer Awareness month Maxwell’s Salon and its staff will be going all out to raise money for this deserving cause. On October 17th, from 10am until 5pm, Maxwell’s Salon along with the support of many local businesses will be opening its doors to the public in an entirely different way than usual. Providing its customers and visitors a chance to see Salon life from the other side of the chair. One of the exciting events will be an amateur hair cutting competition where aspiring hair stylists will have the chance to try their hand at creating their own unique styles. For a donation to Breast Cancer Awareness each of the participants will received expert guidance from a trained stylist whist they create their own styles on cosmetology mannequins who rather fittingly will have pink hair. The competition will be judged by a top stylist. The men will not be left out of the fun as they will have the opportunity to raise money by having their chests waxed for charitable contributions. Kids can join in the fun by entering a coloring competition which will enable them to draw and color their own hair styles and makeup designs. These are just a few of the events that will take place. Other events include prize drawings, silent auctions, and a kid’s ducky pond pull. During the day a local Celebrity D.J will be providing music and karaoke and has agreed to donate his time to entertain visitors. Local restaurants will be providing food and drinks. Many other businesses and Salons from the local area will be setting up booths inside and outside Maxwell’s Salon and hosting events such as pink hair extensions and massages and product offerings. All profits will go to Breast Cancer Awareness.
“Nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected in some way by Breast Cancer and Maxwell’s Salon really wanted to take time to provide support to this cause. So we decided to hold this event on the same day as our official ribbon cutting, in the hope that we can get as many people as possible involved. The Lake Murray Flower Shoppe has even donated a pink ribbon for us to cut instead of the usual blue, which I thought was a nice touch.” said Cheryl Playdon, Owner of Maxwell’s Salon. “Being able to give back to the community in this way is a blessing, and this charity really deserves our attention, especially at this time of year.”
